About the Instructor

Professor Gerald Toki was born in Wailua, Oahu on November 15 and was raised in Fernandez Village in Ewa.  In his teen years he moved to the island of Kauai where he graduated at Kapa'a High School.  He worked for the County of Kauai for 22 years.  Also an accomplished musician who played at various hotels on Kauai for more than 25 years.  Active with the Filipino Martial Arts in his early life through his late Dad, Maestro Frank Mamalias, an instructor of Escrima in Doce Pares System. Professor Gerald is an active member of the Kali Association of America based in Fremont, California.  He is a certified instructor for the Villabrille-Largusa Kali System with a rank of Professor.

1965...
Professor Gerald Toki started training in Senju Karate under the instruction of Master Vince Maglinte earning a rank of Blue Belt.

1967...
Started Filipino Martial Arts training with his Dad on Kauai at the old Hanamaulu School building with the other instructors such as the late Grandmaster Ben Largusa's brother, Guro Dominado.

1982...
Professor Gerald began training with then, 10th Degree Black Belt, Professor Greg Lontayao.  He trained till the year 1993, earning a rank of 4th Degree Black Belt.

1994...
Professor Gerald officially began training with the Kali Association of America on Kauai with the Largusa School of Kali, directly under the guidance of the late Grandmaster Ben T. Largusa with just a few selected students.  He trained for six continuous years earning the rank of 3rd Degree Black Belt.

Today, Professor Gerald Toki resides in Glendale, Arizona and actively teaches the Villabrille-Largusa Kali System and continues to promote and preserve the traditions, philosophies and teachings of the founder, the late Great Grandmaster Floro V. Villabrille and the late Grandmaster Ben T. Largusa.
